Year 11 Progress Leaderboard
Our Year 11 Progress Leaderboard allows pupils to see how much progress they are making in comparison with others in their year. They are based on the grades pupils are projected to achieve in their GCSE’s – the best 8 are selected if they are sitting more than 8 GCSE’s. Pupils are ranked in terms of progress from their starting points at secondary school (in most cases their Year 6 SATS from Primary School). Alongside the league table is a description of what it means to be in a certain position in the table i.e. you are making excellent progress, good progress, or you need to strive to make more progress. The table does not rank by attainment or ability – the pupils at the top of the table may not have the highest projected grades, and the pupils at the lower end may not have the lowest projected grades. The purpose of the tables is two-fold. Firstly, it is to inform pupils of how much progress they are making in relation to the rest of the year group – some pupils may feel they are not making much progress when in fact they are, and vice versa. The board will help clarify this for pupils. Secondly, the aim of the board is to provide motivation to pupils. Those towards the top will be motivated to stay there, those further down will be motivated to move up. Our League table is displayed in East Manor foyer.
Any pupil can be top of the league table – its purpose is to motivate pupils to make outstanding progress from their starting point.
